Karen founded Citywealth after a career at News International, The Times, and Sunday Times in the legal, financial and recruitment sections. She also ran the Legalease flagship title Legal Business/Asia Pacific Legal 500, and launched Legal Business Awards and Legal 500 parties. Karen then took over In Brief magazine, where she grew the organisation from a buyout where it had gone bankrupt to a successful £500,000-a-year publishing and events business. Her work as a Citywealth CEO was recognised by four New York Stevie Awards: Women helping women (2014, 2015), Innovator of the year (2015), and Entrepreneur of the year (2015).
David has over 35 years of experience in advising clients including entrepreneurs, offshore trustees and non-doms on all aspects of personal taxation.David joined Rawlinson & Hunter in 2019, prior to which he spent over 20 years as a partner in two of the Big 4 accounting firms. David started his career as a solicitor. David’s recent work includes advice on creating a family office in the UK, pre-UK arrival planning for a senior executive, and the sale of a significant private company owned by an offshore trust.
Karen joined JTC in 2018 as Senior Director – Private Client Services. Based in Jersey, she is responsible for driving growth in the company’s Europe and UK region, as well as being an integral member of the equivalent Asia regional team. Prior to arriving at JTC, Karen held various senior positions at leading firms within the private client industry over a period of more than three decades. During this time she has worked closely with a variety of multi-jurisdictional, multi-generational high net worth individuals and families. Karen’s career has seen her work in numerous jurisdictions such as Geneva and Singapore, the latter as Managing Director of a major global fiduciary service provider. Few are better respected than Karen when it comes to working with multi-jurisdictional, multigenerational ultra-high net worth families.
As a highly experienced family lawyer, Suzanne supports clients facing complex financial issues and children arrangements following separation as well as advising on pre-nuptial agreements. Many of her cases involve substantial assets and have an international element. Committed to helping clients find solutions in the way that best suits them, Suzanne is a qualified collaborative practitioner, mediator and arbitrator. With over 30 years’ experience advising clients ranging from business owners to high-profile individuals, Suzanne knows one-size does not fit all. She takes time to understand what clients are looking to achieve.
Marie began her career in Private Wealth as a Trustee at Coutts, London where she worked for 10 years. She subsequently moved to Cayman where she headed the Trust and Corporate team for MeesPierson. Marie moved to Guernsey in 2002 where she was employed by Credit Suisse Trust and was Head of their Asia team, frequently traveling to the region. In 2009 she was asked to join the Board of Rothschild Trust Guernsey where she was Head of Clients, both private and corporate. Marie also sat on the Board of a privately owned Family Office provider managing the fiduciary corporate and fund aspects of their client book. Marie joined Intertrust Group as Head of Corporate Services in June 2018. She was appointed Managing Director of Intertrust Guernsey Office in December 2018.
Josh is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of MASECO Private Wealth which was established in 2008. Prior to establishing MASECO, Josh established and led the US Expat at Citibank in London. As an expat himself, he had the vision to re-create the US wealth management experience in the UK which naturally developed based on his background, knowledge and expertise. Josh is an expert in helping High & Ultra High Net Worth American & International families achieve financial peace of mind by providing expert guidance and advice on their financial planning, investment management, estate planning and charitable gifting.
Iain joined Frank Hirth in 2000 and has successfully established and built the Trust and Estates service within our Private Client offering. Iain personally covers numerous areas of US and UK taxation for both individuals and families. He offers specialist advice relating to FATCA reporting. Iain also focuses his attention on the firm's business development plans. Iain is also a Trustee of NPT-Transatlantic, dealing with effective charitable giving for US & UK connected individuals & families. He is a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), US Enrolled Agent (EA) and a Member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP). He was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2016. He was listed in ePrivate Client’s Top 35 Under 35 in 2013 and was also honoured when listed in The Spear’s 500, 2016-2019 and in The Spear's 500 Top Ten Tax Advisors in 2019.
Beatrice is the head of Burges Salmon's Private Wealth sector and a partner in the firm's Tax, Trusts and Family department, which was named “Legal Team of the Year - Large Firm” at the STEP Private Client Awards 2019/20, the third time in five years the team has seen success in this category. Beatrice's primary focus is on international tax, trusts and estate planning for UK and non-UK resident and domiciled clients. She has significantly contributed to the development of the firm's European tax and trust practice with a particular expertise on Italian issues. Beatrice also has significant experience in advising financial institutions and trustees on international trust and tax matters and on the ownership, structuring and acquisition of UK and non-UK real estate. Beatrice also specialises in cross-border estate planning issues with a particular focus on all issues arising from Roman Law and Common Law application.
James has extensive experience advising professional trustees, family offices, intermediaries and high-net worth families (both internationally and locally) on all aspects of Jersey trusts, foundations and estate planning together with all related company and commercial law issues. James frequently advises on the establishment, ongoing operation and restructuring of both private and commercial trusts. He has a particular focus on the drafting of trust instruments, supplemental trust deeds and the establishment and use of private trust companies. James also advises on regulatory matters involving trust company business and has an interest and experience in Sharia compliant fiduciary structures. He also advises trustees, employers and other professionals on a wide range of Jersey employee benefit and pension related matters.
